“The self-injecting device is a standard case for laboratory mice designed and produced to simulate the consumption of addictive substances in humans with the aim of studying the neuronal mechanisms of drug addiction in preclinical research,” said Esmayeel Riyahi, an associate professor of the department of Physiology in the faculty of Medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

He added that the laboratory model of the manufactured device has two hardware and software parts, noting that the hardware part consists of five chamber structures, injection pump, food distributor and stimulator, and the software part controls the hardware parts and records and saves events automatically.

“The animal test of this device is being carried out in the laboratory to evaluate its efficiency in Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and the process of patenting this product is in progress and its commercialization process is about to start,” Riyahi said.

In a relevant development, an Iranian technological company stationed at the incubator center of Islamic Azad University’s Science and Research branch succeeded in production of a special diagnosis kit which can detect medicine and drug abuse simultaneously by using the TLC method.

‘Raad Jen Pars Azma’ company manufactured the kit which detects amphetamine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, morphine, codeine, methadone, tramadol, buprenorphine and cocaine by TLC method.

The technological company has succeeded in producing this kit in the incubator of Islamic Azad University’s Science and Research branch.

Reza Kazzempour, the head of the incubator center of the Science and Research branch, expressed pleasure with obtaining the license to produce the special kits from the General Directorate of Medical Equipment, and said, "The incubators enjoy high capacities to supply the medical equipment in the country, and we are trying to attract the technological and knowledge-based companies in the center and we welcome all innovative and creative plans and ideas.”
