Iranian Technologists Make Work Easy for Industries Related to Iron Smelting

TEHRAN (ANA)- Managing director of a knowledge-based company in Iran said that a device called “Dimensional Control of Pellets” was produced in his firm that by installing it in the production lines, the energy usage of pelletizing factories will decrease by 10% annually.

Hessam Kafian, the managing director of the Iranian "Hoshmandsazan Viraaku" knowledge-based company told ANA News Agency correspondent in an interview that their company operates in the field of providing artificial intelligence, machine vision, and Internet of Things services, and most of the services they provide are done according to the requests of the customers and according to the needs of the industry.

He added that his company's product is mostly used in places where human resources are practically unable to perform quality control operations.

“This product “Dimensional Control of Pellets” is installed on the production lines in pelletizing factories and controls the pellet dimensions,” Kafian added.

“The iron ore extracted in the mine is mixed with powder and other materials, and finally a material called pellet is obtained which is similar to round balls. There are iron compounds inside the balls,” the director of "Hoshmandsazan Viraaku" company explained.

Saying that the dimensional distribution of pellets is important for some reasons, Kafian added, “The pellets produced in the iron ore factory must have certain dimensions according to the demands of customers.”

“For example, the dimensions of the pellet produced in iron ore should be two to four centimeters, if it is too small or large, there will be problems in the process. Pellets are produced in different dimensions, pellets that are not in the favored dimensions are removed from the final product in a mechanical operation and would return to the pellet production process, pulverized and turned into pellets again,” he explained more.

“If the production is not optimal, the return period of the pellet to the production process wuill be very long, so, we must measure the size of the pellet to optimize the production parameters.”

“The parameters of the company include the speed of the rotating disk, the amount of water spraying and the angle at which the pellet is produced in the process, therefore, using this measurement and entering the required data into the system that performs this process, makes the pellet production process to be optimized and produced in the specific dimensions that are requested,” Kafian continued.

He underscored that their method makes the amount of energy consumption of pellet factories decrease by 10%, which is a very significant figure.

“One of the main users of the pellet machine is Mobarakeh Steel Company in Isfahan. This factory need devices that measure the dimensions of the purchased pellets. This measurement is used in several cases, firstly, it must be able to accurately price the purchased pellet based on the considered components and its quality,” he added.

“The next thing is to adjust the parameters used in the process of pellet melting and regeneration. If the accurate dimensional distribution of the pellet is available, the parameters of the melting and regeneration process can be optimized. Then, apart from the fact that the pellet purchase cost will be more accurate, energy usage in the factory will be decreased too,” Kafian went on to say.

“There is no domestic equivalent for our product, in the meantime, the price of the foreign equivalents is very high. Now the product ‘Dimensional control of pellets’ is desirable and useful in all industries related to iron smelting and iron ore extraction,” he said.
