Iranian Knowledge-Based Company Produces Hydrophobic Cement Mortar Containing Nanoparticles

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based company has produced hydrophobic cement mortar containing nanoparticles which can protects buildings' surfaces during rain and also help to clean the facade surface from dust particles and pollutants in an easier manner.

Maryam Hosseini Bayan, the commercial manager of an Iranian knowledge-based company, divided the company's products into several categories, including car wash detergents, hydrophobic paints, insulating paint, antibacterial paint, anti-corrosion paint, anti-wear paint and mortars, adding that mortars include hydrophobic mortars and fire resistant mortars.

“In cities in the Northern Iran, where high humidity, moss and algae are amont the main problems for buildings, antibacterial, anti-moss and anti-algae paint is widely used, and the available nano paints and detergents have antistatic properties, meaning that if dust particles sit on the surface can be easily removed from it,” she added, according to a report by the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) website.

"The anti-moss and anti-bacterial paint produced by this company is suitable for surface of pools, ponds and water transfer channels. Also, this paint has anti-corrosion properties and can be used for facilities, pipelines, tankers, warehouses, domestic, industrial and marine structures. Due to its anti-wear properties, it can be utilized in the floors of buildings and every other surface in the building and industrial space,” Hosseini Bayan added.

“One of the characteristics of this paint is its thermal insulation property, which can protect the surfaces of metal and polymer composites and galvanized roofs against sunlight. These colors are also resistant against fire and heat,” the researcher further pointed out.

“This company's fireproof mortar can be employed as paint or mortar on the surface and prevent the temperature of the structure below it from rising during a fire. Also, paints with a thickness of one to two millimeters can protect the building in addition to protecting its façade. Although it is better to protect the beams and columns with mortar during construction,” the knowledge-based company’s commercial manager said.
