Knowledge-Based Company in Iran Takes Effective Step towards Settlement of Water Shortage
“The smart irrigation and meteorological system designed by local experts settles the problem of water wastage in Iran,” said Mehdi Sarayee, the managing director of the company and assistant professor of the Department of Water Science and Engineering of Islamic Azad University’s Science and Research Unit, on the sidelines of ‘Asreh Omid Event’.
“Our knowledge-based product is the smart management system of water resources and its prototype has been approved and commercialized,” he added.
Sarayee explained that the system can be used in facing various natural disasters including, pest forecasting, runoff precipitation and floods and also in predicting frost, heatstroke and hail which are harmful to crops.
The smart weather station, of which a thousand systems have been produced, helps significantly in management of water resources and forecasting the weather, he said, adding that if the system is fully operational, it will be possible to produce simultaneous groundwater monitoring maps.
“At present, we traditionally use the report of the Energy Ministry about the water condition of different regions. The ministry prepares a report on the status of the underground water level every five years,” Sarayee said.
Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 01, 2022 to exhibit new achievements, equipment and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of establishment of the Islamic Azad University.
