Solar cooling is a technology for converting heat collected from the sun into useful cooling process for refrigeration and air-conditioning applications.

“Our company manufactured the cooling system which operates using solar energy to generate electricity. We launched a compression chiller which can reduce the temperature of 50 liters of water within 20 minutes from 27 Celsius to 7 Celsius,” Mehdi Mansoori, the managing director of the company, told ANA.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event which was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 1, 2022.

The event aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.

Some 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research centers, and startups took part in Asreh Omid Event.

Mansoori who is also a member of the incubator center of the Islamic Azad University, Pardis branch, added that the use of fossil fuel is coming to an end.

“Fossil fuels exploration costs are high and they harm the environment. In Iran, we can meet the energy need through the use of solar energy.”

The system designed by the company is able to generate 1,800 watts of electricity which is sufficient for cooling 20-25 square meters of space.

For the time being, the company is producing the system for laboratories, but we intend to commercialize the product, he stressed.

The Vice Presidency for Science and Technology has identified and supported technological projects in the fields of new and renewable energy, electricity, and power plants.

Limited fossil energy resources and problems caused by greenhouse gas emissions have made it necessary to pay more attention to renewable energies. The access of developing countries to all kinds of new energy sources is essential for their economic development.

Considering the favorable and appropriate capacity of renewable energies in the country, the development of these valuable resources seems important, as it leads to sustainable development.
