“Alireza Tayyebi Khorrami, a student of the electrical engineering department of the university, has succeeded in designing and building a laboratory power supply with my advices,” Mojtabi Forouqi, a faculty member of Islamic Azad University’s Shahinshahr branch, told ANA.

He added that all stages of designing and manufacturing the device have been carried out at Islamic Azad University’ Shahinshahr branch, noting that the device’s capabilities are higher than similar foreign models and even those produced by large companies.

“Voltage and current monitoring, battery failure detection, charging IC and flash memory failure detection are among the main capabilities of this device,” Forouqi said.

“The device has many practical uses and is of interest to repairmen in the field of electronics. Also, the cost of making this device is half of the cost of purchasing a foreign sample, and more importantly, detection of flash memory failure and battery failure is possible in the Iranian model,” he noted.

In a relevant development in May, a knowledge-based company in Iran produced a home-made backup device to settle problems created for elevators during power outage.

“This device is used when the power is out. During an outage, when the main power source is cut off, the UPS is automatically connected to the battery and continues to feed the connected loads,” said Majid Sadri, the managing-director of the knowledge-based company.

He added that the duration of connecting the UPS to the battery during a power outage is about a few milliseconds.

“This product will automatically move the elevator to the nearest floor and opens the door as soon as the main power is cut off, immediately and without interruption,” Sadri said, adding that at present, the use of emergency power supply is mandatory.
