Knowledge-Based Firm in Iran Makes Football Stadium Grass with Low Maintenance Costs

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based company succeeded in production of a special grass for football stadiums with low maintenance costs.

“The main goal of the project is to strengthen the weak soils to withstand loads and prevent compaction, increase permeability and reduce erosion, and in this project we increased soil fertility by using polymer filaments,” said Dawoud Maleki, the chairman of the board of directors of the knowledge-based company.

“This process is similar to concrete structures; if a concrete structure is built without rebar, it will collapse under the influence of its own weight but filaments or steel bars change the direction of the load’s weight and prevent compression,” he added.

“The cost of maintaining this field by using this method is about $2,000 per month, while the maintenance of the grass field in the European stadiums costs about 30,000 dollars,” Maleki said.

In a relevant development in February, researchers at an Iranian knowledge-based company have produced bio-fertilizers of algae origin for soil enrichment.

Hamid Donyaei Darian, a member of the board of directors of the Iranian knowledge-based company, said that enriching soil is necessary for synthesis of nutrients and conduction of them to the plant.

“Soil enrichment eliminates the negative effects resulted from the imbalance of some plant nutrients in the soil and improves water absorption activity,” the researcher said.

Studies available online say that soil enrichment is a fertilizer catalyst that makes fertilizer more efficient by conditioning the soil to allow more nutrients into the grass and improve grass health. It creates a stronger and healthier root system so that the grass can better withstand stress.

“Algae is the most nutrient-dense food in the world. It has the most absorbable plant-based protein, which has all the strong and effective chemicals that a plant has such as beta-carotene. The beta-carotene obtained from them is up to 10 times more effective than the normal beta-carotene against cancer, the researcher said.
