Knowledge-Based Firm Locally Produces Borophene Developer Device in Iran

TEHRAN (ANA)- Researchers at a knowledge-based company have successfully improved the efficiency and performance of sensors and electronic components in Iran by locally producing a device to produce borophene.

“Borophene is a serious rival to graphene in making electronic components. This two-dimensional (2D) material can improve the properties and performance of various electronic components such as super-capacitors and sensors,” Yasser Abdi, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, said while pointing to the importance of their domestically manufactured device to produce borophene as their new achievement, the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy reported.

“This device allows the production of borophene for electronic, optoelectronic and electrochemical applications. Ion storage capability in borophene is eight times higher than graphene, while it is lighter and stronger and more flexible. It is also more conductive than graphene and is used in the manufacture of energy storage pieces, optical detectors and gas sensors,” Abdi said.

“Borophene developer devices in the world are based on molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) which allows the growth of borophene on specific substrates and limits its applications. In addition, the molecular beam epitaxy method is an expensive method and requires a very high vacuum, but the homegrown device enables the growth of borophene at a much lower cost.”, he continued to say after pointing out that the design and production of the device was done by local Iranian experts using domestic technology.

“Currently, 10 people are working directly and 30 people are working indirectly in this knowledge-based company. With the entry of this product into the market, due to the high level of competition in the international markets, a bright future is predicted for it,” he went on to say.

He noted that their company has offered their borophene developer device to the market at a price of $80,000.
