Controlling a large number of vehicles on the road needs to be supported by intelligent and automated traffic control systems to reduce human errors and increase accident reduction.

Reza Dorostan, a professor at the Islamic Azad University, Karaj branch, told ANA that making investments for producing the equipment on large scale can make the country self-sufficient.

Dorostan made the remarks on the sidelines of Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of AsrehOmid Event.

The event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 1, 2022.

It aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.

Some 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research centers, and startups took part in AsrehOmid Event.

Mostly, these systems monitor traffic using street cameras and identify illegal traffic behaviors, such as signal violations.

This product can also be used in the field of security. The way it works is that through a special type of RFID tags that are installed on the license plate and tag readers that are installed on the road surface in a special way, it is possible to record all kinds of traffic violations and security issues.

The project has been introduced as one of the top startup ideas and products in 2020, Dorostan concluded.

More than 7,000 knowledge-based companies have so far been registered and are now operating across the country.
