Iran is currently exporting medical equipment to 63 countries, including the European, Asian and South American states, Director-General of the IFDA for Medical Equipment Affairs Rouhollah Mazinani said.

He added that the number of production licenses issued in the medical equipment field has reached 1,800, noting that 1,600 of which enjoy export licenses.

Mazinani also said that over 20-million-euro worth of medical equipment was exported from the country in the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2022).

Dismissing any restrictions in exporting medical equipment, he said that the IFDA has prioritized meeting domestic demands and then, has focused on exporting the related products overseas.

Nearly 45 percent of the country’s requirements in the field of medical, dentistry, laboratory, clinical, hospital equipment and related industries are produced inside the country in line with the policy of reducing imports, Mazinani said.

Earlier, Chairman of the Biotechnology Development Council of Iran Mostafa Qaneyee had praised the Iranian knowledge-based companies for production of medical equipment, special to fight against coronavirus, with a quality as high as the western products.

“Exports of Iran’s productions in area of fighting and preventing coronavirus to the countries which claim to be pioneers in medical fields after two months of the virus outbreak shows that the measures adopted to develop the knowledge-based companies and their works have been very good and effective,” Qaneyee said.
