"Ayat satellite has been designed and manufactured to predict earthquakes. It will be launched into space soon with the support of Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Iran," Zamanian said.

Zamanian further pointed to the activities of his organization and said, "Iran's  Scientific and Industrial Research  Organization started working following approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in 1980. The organization has seven research institutes and a large number of reference laboratories. Fortunately completion of the chain from idea to product is very evident in this organization."

Earlier this week, Head of the National Disaster Management Organization of Iran Mohammad Hassan Nami said that Ayat satellite will be launched into space in near future in the presence of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi.

It should be mentioned that such satellites can be used to find more information about natural disasters including floods and landslides.
