Producing Different Cosmetic Products from Algae Powder by Iranian Researchers
“We produce soap, sunscreen cream, moisturizing cream, toner and cosmetic face mask from algae powder, and samples of these products are already produced. In addition to obtaining licenses from relevant organizations and authorities, we need financial support to enlarge out production and enter mass production level and have a good presence in the market,” Managing Director of Pouyeshgaran Oghyanous Sabz-e Iran Company Sima Fayazi told ANA on the sideline of the Asreh Omid Event held by Islamic Azad University.
She said that the growth center of Islamic Azad University, Bandar Abbas Branch, has provided them a place for their laboratory (company), in which they have produced the laboratory samples of the products so far.
Explaining the uses of seaweed or macroalgae, the researcher explained that seaweed contains minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, selenium, copper, zinc, iron and iodine, and it is considered a rich source of essential minerals.
She further said that the macroalgae is a great source of fiber and a variety of powerful antioxidants as well as vitamins A, B, C, E, and K.
Fayazi, who has a Master’s degree in biology from Tehran-based Tarbiat Moddares University said that the event helped knowledge-based companies receive financial support and other services for their projects which will result in the companies' growth and development.
According to her, the only support that this company has received during the development of its products was from the growth center of Islamic Azad University, which was in the form of laboratory space and payments for the purchase of laboratory raw materials.
The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
