Iran-Made Silicon Nanocoating Capable of Preventing Powercut

TEHRAN (ANA)- A technological company in Iran produced silicone nano-coated insulators that are used in power transmission systems and enjoy high resistance to pollution due to their hydrophobic properties, helping prevention of widespread power outages, specially in cities with humid weather conditions.

A special electrical insulator is used in power transmission systems to prevent the passage of unwanted currents to the ground which plays an important role in improving the performance of power transmission currents but a problem that usually occurs for these insulators is the dust and surface pollution that sometimes causes widespread blackouts.

Sepehr Nano Baspar Company has succeeded in creating a nano coating on these insulators which reduces the surface pollution.

"The product is a type of silicon coating that is a part of the embargoed coatings in the country and it was not possible to import it. We succeeded in making this product," said Nima Haghshanas, the company’s founder.

In addition to its high durability, the nanocoating performs well in different weather conditions, specially in high humidity.

Earlier, an Iranian startup had also succeeded in production of moisture-resistant nano-insulators that can settle the problem of subsurface corrosion in oil and gas industries.

Given the high importance of energy in various sectors of oil and gas industries, the use of thermal insulators is a requirement.

Energy is the most important factor in most chemical reactions and refinery operations; therefore, the use of thermal insulation on furnaces, reactors and oil and gas transmission lines has become an integral part in this industry.

Due to their anti-moisture properties, most insulators used in this industry cause problems, including subsurface corrosion and low mechanical resistance which reduce the insulators’ lifespan.

To solve these problems, an Iranian start-up succeeded in production of nano-based insulation with high resistance to moisture and subsurface corrosion.

The Iran-made nano insulators are proper options for the oil and gas industry, including construction of oil, gas and petrochemical structures, fixed and mobile cold storages used in military industries and the aerospace industry thanks to their high mechanical and chemical resistance, long lifespan and low maintenance cost.
