Iranian University Plans to Mechanize Production Lines in Chadormalu Mine

“In the field of artificial intelligence, we have launched projects in Chadormalu which are aimed to mechanize some of the production lines,” Hassan Qodsipour, the president of the university, said.

Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company is the main producer of iron ore concentrate in Iran.

The company also produces up to one million tons per year of crushed iron ore for use in blast furnaces.

"The university pursues the goal of paving the way to turn ideas into products, and we have achieved great success in this line.”

For the time being, 313 knowledge-based companies are operating in this university, he noted.

Amirkabir University of Technology admitted about 300 students in 1975, but now the admission has increased to 15,000 students, Qodsipour said.

Half of the students at the university study in post-graduate courses. Also, most of the graduate students of this university are studying in emerging fields, he highlighted.

In January, Mehrdad Akbarian, the head of the association of Iranian iron ore producers, said the country’s current iron ore reserves are theoretically about 2.8 billion tons, however, the real figure is expected to be much more than that.

According to Akbarian, the country’s iron ore reserves are estimated to be about five billion tons.

Having 81 different types of minerals, Iran is one of the top 10 mineral-rich countries across the globe.

In this regard, the government has been seriously pursuing several programs for promoting the mining sector as a major contributor to the country’s economic growth.
