“The 50-kilowatt solar power plant was designed, built and put into operation as a result of the supervision and design of the research team and personnel of this research institute in order to provide 20% of the research institute's electricity consumption from solar energy over an area of 800 square meters,” Hamid Omidvar, the head of the Materials and Energy Research Center (MERC) said.

Highlighting the experiences and the existence of skilled forces in the field of solar power plants in this MERC, he added, “This research center is ready to cooperate with industries and organizations on the construction and giving expert-level advice about the design, commissioning and monitoring of solar power plants in the country.”

“The MERC is the oldest research and development center in the field of renewable energy in Iran which has inaugurated solar thermal systems and has launched photovoltaic power plants outside the center. It has also designed several solar power plants connected and disconnected from the national grid on its own for its own purposes,” Omidvar concluded.
