Iranian Firm Achieves Technology to Produce Antibody-Rich Milk

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company succeeded in producing ultra-special milk containing colostrum to improve food safety and body immunity.

The milk contains colostrum, in addition to lactoferrin, lactoperoxidase, lysozyme, growth factors, antioxidants, vitamins like A, D, E, many other proteins and bioactive compounds and a variety of antibodies.

It is pasteurized in a way that its proteins, bioactive compounds and antibodies are preserved and are functionally active throughout the mucosal surfaces in the upper respiratory and digestive systems.

“The ultra-special milk contains colostrum, which was produced for the first time in Iran. We use the LT method, in which the temperature is lowered and the time is increased,” said Hassan Nili Ahmadabadi, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.

“Also, before giving birth, we put the cow in the hyperimmunization protocol and strengthen and stimulate its immune system, then we add some compounds into the colostrum and manage the feeding of the cow. Therefore, a super-specific antibody is produced in the milk which has no counterpart,” he added.

In a relevant development in September, scientists at an Iranian technological company had also used nanotechnology to detect antibiotics in milk rapidly.

“The amount of antibiotics in milk was determined through laboratory tests and equipment like HPLC in the past which was a time-consuming process taking between 6 hours to a day but the new kits can detect antibiotics rapidly,” said Mohaddeseh Haji Abdol Vahhab, the managing director of the company.

She added that these kits have so far been imported from foreign states, including Denmark and Belgium, but their imports have faced restrictions and obstacles.

Haji Abdol Vahhab said that the prototype of the product has been produced in the company, adding, “At present, 3,000 kits have been prepared which will be presented to a number of milk producing companies in Iran to conduct preliminary tests.”

“A nanoscale certificate has been received for this product and we have passed the final stages of receiving the knowledge-based certificate and we have also demanded permission of the veterinary organization for our products,” she underlined.
