Mohammad Karim Sohrabi, the deputy chairman of Research and Technology Department of Semnan Islamic Azad University (IAU), told ANA on the sidelines of the Asreh Omid exhibition that the two presidents of IAU-Semnan branch in Semnan Province and IAU-Taft branch in Yazd province inked two MoUs with the aim of cooperating and benefiting from scientific, research, educational and cultural abilities, between those two Azad universities.

Explaining about the two MoUs, which were signed by the presidents of Semnan and Taft Azad universities on the sidelines of Asreh Omid event, Sohrabi said, “According to these MoUs, the Structural and Seismic Geotechnical Laboratory of Semnan IAU and the Structural and Seismic Laboratory of Taft IAU pledged to cooperate.”

“Paying attention to the long-term development prospects of Iran's big cities in the wake of securing and increasing the resistance of all buildings, the need for seismic research centers is a growing demand, and concluding a MoU is a step towards realizing those goals,” Semnan’s IAU’s official added.

He also said establishing the seismic centers is a response to the growing demand for such centers, adding that creating strong structural and seismic centers in the country not only benefits the country's construction industry, but also creates a durable source of income for IAU.

“Holding joint training courses and workshops, exchanging visits to the research centers of both sides, conducting joint theses and studies on prefabricated metal and concrete structures, carrying out joint commercial projects and joint projects related to concretes are one of the provisions of these two MoUs that were signed between those two universities,” Sohrabi went on to say.

The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
