Iranian Specialists Indigenize Technology for Production, Distribution, Control Pressure of Urban Water Network

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based group has succeeded in indigenizing the technology for production, distribution and controlling the pressure of urban water network by using smart products.

One of the important pieces of equipment used in the field of water pressure reduction in water supply lines is the pressure-relief valve which is used to balance the pressure in different points of the network.

These valves along with water pressure monitoring tools can assist technicians to make reduction process smarter and better. In other words, smart actuators can be activated automatically when the pressure reaches a critical point. Also, in case of excessive reduction of water pressure or even a vacuum problem in some parts of the network, increasing the accuracy of pressure control tools will help boost the lifespan of water supply network lines.

An Iranian knowledge-based company has used this innovative idea to design and manufacture pressure-relief valves for the urban water network. The product’s performance is in a way that it reduces the water pressure at night when the amount of water consumption is low, and it increases the pressure again in the early hours of the day; therefore, the pressure change process in city water can be optimally and remotely controlled.

Shahram Assadi Alasavand, the managing director of knowledge-based Saina Fanavari Zagros company elaborated on the technology, saying, “The smart operator for controlling the pressure of the urban water network is used to manage and control the pressure intelligently.”

In a relevant development last month, a participant at the 17th International Iran Open RoboCup 2023 competitions held in Tehran on April 26-28 said that the Iran-made hydroponic robot saves water and presents a highly suitable method for cultivation in dry areas.

“This new robot is named the smart hydroponic robot. In fact, hydroponic cultivation is carried out without the use of soil. The plant is placed in a liquid, a mixture of water and a special solution. This solution replaces the nutrients in the soil and helps the plant to grow better and faster,” Barsam Mo’ayyedzadeh told ANA.

“Special LEDs have been installed in the robot that replace sunlight and are widely used in places without sunlight. The plant can grow fully in places without sunlight. Also, the plant normally needs eight hours of sunlight daily, and this robot can find the local time by connecting to Wi-Fi and automatically set eight hours of time and turn the light on and off for the plant throughout the day,” he added.

Noting that parts showing the water level are also used in this robot, Mo’ayyedzadeh said that these parts show the water level in the robot to the users and adequacy of the water level in the robot is also assessed.

“A monitor is designed on the front of the robot which shows whether the robot has enough water or not, using different emoticons and the robot determines the level of water by crying and laughing. In fact, each level of water is displayed ti the user with a different feeling,” he added.

“A temperature and humidity sensor has also been installed in this robot which shows the temperature of the liquid inside the robot. Also, the proper location for placing the robot is shown,” Mo’ayyedzadeh said.
