Jaber Koupaeizadeh, a member of IAU's Structure and Earthquake Research Center, said on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event (May 29 to June 01) that IAU signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the country's Nano Consortium to start cooperation for enjoying Nonmaterial and Nanotechnology for producing earthquake-proof prefabricated structures.

He went on to say that the IAU's Structure and Earthquake Research Center inked approximately 30 memoranda of understanding with the private and semi-private companies and even with some academic and research centers during the 4-day period Asreh Omid Event.

"We are resolved to concentrate on implementation of the newly-signed MoUs via pursuing both studying and research issues to ultimately commercialize the process and access eye-catching sources of income," he further explained.

Koupaeizadeh said that localizing production of earthquake-proof light steel foundations (LSF) in the country will be materialized in near future, adding, "The Islamic Azad University has also a plan to set up a seisanological museum to simulate earthquakes for relevant researchers."

He further said that the IAU's Structure and Earthquake Research Center in Taft, a town in central Iran, enjoys cutting-edge equipments, adding that the mentioned center is unique in the Central and Southern parts of the country.

Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, being crossed by several major faults that cover at least 90 percent of the country. As a result, earthquakes in Iran occur often and are destructive.

Koupaeizadeh added that Asreh Omid Event was a very good opportunity for knowledge-based companies, academicians, entrepreneurs and investors to find each other in the easiest way possible.

The Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution exhibition" under the title of Asreh Omid Event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 01, 2022 to exhibit new achievements, equipments and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of establishment of the Islamic Azad University.

Asreh Omid Event gathered one thousand research and infrastructural groups and centers nationwide, one thousand new ideas and startups and also one thousand technological companies.

The Islamic Azad University as a private university headquartered in Tehran is one of the largest comprehensive systems of universities, colleges, and community colleges in the world. The IAU which is the world's sixth-largest university was approved and ratified by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in 1982.
