Iran Records 23% Increase in Agro-Food Exports

TEHRAN (ANA)- The spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade said that in the first 11 months of this year of 1402 in the Iranian calendar (started on March 21, 2023), nearly $5.6 billion worth of livestock, fishery, agricultural and food products were exported, showing a 23% growth compared to the same period last year.

“From the beginning of this year of 1402 (March 21, 2023) to the end of Month of Bahman (February 22), $5,593,399,727 worth of fisheries, livestock, dairy, agricultural, greenhouse, processed and canned products were exported to more than 130 countries, indicating a 23% compared to the same period,” Latifi said.

“The share of the exports of food and agricultural products in the total exports $44,890,125,000 was nearly 12.5%,” according to the Iranian official.

He added that Iraq was the top destination for Iran’s agro-food products in that 11-month period with purchasing $1.784 billion of those items. The Arab neighbor accounted for 32% of Iran’s total exports of food and agricultural products.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) came in second place on the list of importers of Iran’s food and agricultural products with importing $675.783 million, followed by Russia with $464.572 million.

Pakistan ($447,774,000), Afghanistan ($383,491,000), India ($257,970,000), Turkey ($216,067,000), China ($215,970,000), Turkmenistan ($104,937,000), Azerbaijan (98,898,000) were the fourth to tenth other destinations for Iran’s food and agricultural products (crops), Latifi continued.
