Mine Management System Designed in Iran to Maintain Specialized Data

TEHRAN (ANA)- Specialists of an Iranian knowledge-based company in Iran succeeded in designing a ‘mine management system’ to collect and store specialized data related to the country's mines.

“Actually, when a mine is monitored, mapped and studied, valuable data is obtained during a time-consuming process. This information should be stored on a database. This smart system is an accurate and lifelong information bank for storing data obtained from mines,” Ehsan Hosseinpour, the project control manager of the knowledge-based firm, told ANA.

Noting that a remarkable point about the system is the addition of the functionality of mining engineering software (both exploration and design phase) for employers, he said, “In addition to using mining information management services, the users can also use application software for mining engineering.”

“In addition to using the facilities inside the system, consulting and monitoring services are also provided to the users based on the concluded contract,” Hosseinpour said.

“At present, the mine management system is being used in the mines of three regions in Iran, including Kerman, Bandar Abbas and Zanjan,” he underlined.

In a relevant development in May, Hossein Ali Lazemi, a professor in the mining department of Islamic Azad University’s Bafq branch, and his colleagues had also made a research group to improve the technical know-how and increase the productivity in the mining sector.

Lazemi, who has a master's in rock mechanics field from Amirkabir University and a PhD in this field from the science and research branch of Islamic Azad University, has over 24 years of executive, educational and research experiences in the mining sector.

“Nowadays, due to the industries' need to raw materials and the high volume of mineral extraction, mining in different geological conditions and at different depths is inevitable; therefore, it is important and necessary to know the behavior of the earth in order to find an optimal and safe extraction method,” Lazemi told ANA.

“Our research group can provide the basis for improving the technical know-how of open pit and underground mining and play an important role in increasing productivity and safe mining,” he added.

“In order to understand the behavior of the earth in structures, behavioral graph tools and equipment are needed, and we can indigenize building such equipment by research work. Therefore, the main field of our activity is focused on technical know-how and making equipment which help to understand the behavior of the earth,” Lazemi said.
